Former state Senate President Steve Sweeney received the endorsement of another South Jersey union on Friday in his campaign for governor.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 351 said Sweeney’s work to increase wages and improve life for working New Jerseyans earned the endorsement of the union.
“Steve Sweeney has consistently demonstrated his commitment to union workers and their families,” said Dan Cosner, the business manager of IBEW Local 351. “He understands the importance of fair wages, safe working conditions, and the need to invest in our infrastructure. His leadership has been crucial in the fight for the rights of working men and women in New Jersey.”
Sweeney, a longtime union leader, has already received a hefty share of union endorsements this cycle:
The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters; International Longshoremen’s Association; New Jersey Building and Construction Trades Council President Bill Mullen; International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers (Sweeney’s union); International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 30; Teamsters Joint Council 53; Sheet Metal Workers; New Jersey State Council; New Jersey Roofers Unions; UNITE HERE Local 54; UNITE HERE Local 100.
